đż From Garden Frustration to Nature-Led Healing
Over the last few years, weâve poured our hearts into planting a food forest on our property. We began by growing what we thought we shouldâthe veggies and herbs we most often ate. But it didnât take long to realize that Floridaâs intense heat, unpredictable soil, biting insects, and persistent ants were making that dream a constant battle.
So we changed course.
We shifted from fighting the land to listening to it. We began planting what wanted to grow hereâplants that thrive naturally in our climate and require little intervention. As we did that, something magical happened.
I started noticing how many of the âweedsâ and wild plants growing around our yard and the neighboring woods had exactly the healing properties our family needed.
đź Learning from the Land Itself
Iâve spent years studying herbalism. Iâve learned about healing herbs from all over the worldâadaptogens from Asia, roots from the Andes, tonics from Europe. But something always felt⌠slightly disconnected.
The more I walked our land and got curious about what was growing underfoot, the more I realized that nature was already offering what we neededâright where we were.
Each plant had a purpose, a signature, a rhythm. I began harvesting wild herbs, drying leaves and roots at their peak, and incorporating them into meals, spice blends, teas, and tinctures. Their energy felt differentâalive, aligned, deeply connected to place and purpose.
đž Returning to the Wisdom of Whatâs Native
This journey has changed my herbalism from something learned in books to something felt in my bones. There is a powerful intelligence in working with what thrives here. These plants know the soil, the cycles, the intensityâand their medicine reflects that.
Now, Iâm ready to share this journeyâwhat Iâve learned from the plants, the earth, and the process of letting go of what âshouldâ grow and leaning into what does.
